I used to get my hair cut for about $15 bucks (10 bucks for hair cut and five dollar tip), but since I’ve started school, Kris has been cutting my hair for free. He cuts my little brother’s hair, and so, he’s gotten quite good at cutting afros. As soon as it fills in a little, I’ll make sure to post the pic.

Last night, I talked with mom. It was nice, she actually listened to me without rushing me. It felt so good to know that my mother cared enough to let me get out what I needed to get out, instead of saying, “What do you want?” I mean, she’s not that cold, but sometimes it gets a little old. Right in the middle of my sentences she will say, “C’mon you’re taking too long” and then it will just bug the hell outta me and I’ll get a little pissed…and a little depressed. This time was different though. This time, mom listened; the talk with mom was nice.

As far as my algebra marathon, I finished the first quiz out of two with a 92% (after the second try). Tomorrow, I need to finish another quiz before Sunday at midnight, and then I have to learn how to solve f(x) questions by Monday at 12 a.m. Ugh. I played Xenosaga: Episode I for 45 minutes or so, which was really nice. I really want to finish up the game so I can move onto the brand-spankin’ new, two-disc Xenosaga: Episode II. that Kris got me this past Monday. Yeah, I’m a full fledge RPG lover, no doubt about it, baby!

Okay, I’m not gonna lie. Have I ever lied on this blog, heh. I said I would have some margaritas during spring break, but instead, I had one with Kris last night. Aw, screw it! I’ve been working super hard all week long. Dang it, I deserved that margarita. I didn’t get as tipsy as I had a couple of weeks ago when we were at the galleria, because I shared half my presidente with Kris. Kris just got a normal sized margarita on the rocks and slurped that up in no time flat. Me, on the other hand, had plenty of liquor cuz the presidente is huge. So any how, Kris had more than me to drink and he felt pretty tipsy. I just felt good. I didn’t want to get drunk yesterday, for fear of a hangover. I can’t have that when I have all this math homework to do.

Algebra Marathon

I know it is hard to see, but basically, I’m in a huge competition…ever heard of it? It’s an ALGEBRA MARATHON! My teacher posted eight chapters in a week and a half! Yeah, somehow, unless I’m blind, he posted all this stuff at the last minute. I’ve got until Feb. 27th to master factoring, complex numbers (imaginary), and f(x) or otherwise known as functions, and a whole host of other algebra topics. Heh, and that’s not all I have to do. I also have two exams this Thursday. Yay! I’m just so thrilled. No PS2 until spring break. Our first day of spring break, I am going to go and buy some tequila and am seriously going to make some hardcore margaritas.

I decided to work with spirituals again my final semester as an undergrad here at the University of Houston. Here is the deal: I am questioning whether or not the white spiritual can be classified as folk music and whether or not is can even be called a spiritual per se in comparison to the Negro spiritual. Continue reading for the short 266 word project proposal and tell me what you think. If you don’t know much about spirituals and their origins, that’s okay… I still want to know what you think.

This mini-vacation that I’ve had since this past Wednesday has been quite relaxing and at the same time a little nerve racking. I wish I could say that I’ve done a lot of my homework, but the truth is, is that I haven’t. In fact, I haven’t done anything. Basically, I’ll have to do all of my homework Monday night so that it is ready by Tuesday. Oh well, screw it. Now, let’s chat about what was fun.

Since last week, I made a little plan for a mini-get-away at my mother’s house back in Brownsville. I was supposed to leave today, but as luck turns out, my one of my teacher’s told me that she wasn’t going to have class on Thursday, and so, I left yesterday at 10:30 a.m. and arrived in Brownsville at 4:00 p.m. on the dot. I can’t help it, I miss my mother and my brother and when I got my financial aid, I bought so much stuff for them that if I sent all the stuff via snail mail, it would have been quite expensive. Ah yes, can’t beat that nice little six hour drive… so much fun I tell ya. (yeah right)

Valentine’s Day

There was so much I wanted to do with Kris yesterday that I just did not get the chance to do. This is besides the fact that Kris and I could never afford a honeymoon, lol. Yeah, one of these days when Kris and I have good paying jobs we will have to go to Hawaii or some other tropical romantic place beyond the well-confined conservative quarters of Texas. This is not to say I don’t love my state, but uh, I’m no conservative.

Valentine’s Day

Yesterday when I got home, Kris gave me some lovely carnations, balloons, and candies (yummy). Other than that though, Valentine’s Day was all right. I wish I could say it was better, but it wasn’t. There was so much I wanted to do with Kris yesterday that I just did not get the chance to do. This is besides the fact that Kris and I could never afford a honeymoon, lol. Yeah, one of these days when Kris and I have good paying jobs we will have to go to Hawaii or some other tropical romantic place beyond the well-confined conservative quarters of Texas.
