Shaq’s Friend
For the past three years, Kris has coached and Shaquille (my little bro on the left) has attended a Lutheran-based sports camp. Within the program, children improve their basketball and volleyball skills. Kris had a great time coaching kids from ages 11-13, and consequently, because Shaq is 12, he was also one of the kids Kris coached. I’m surprised Shaq didn’t give him a hard time. I guess Shaq reserves his bad behavior for home, heh. The sports camp was last week from Monday-Friday (8:30 a.m.-12:30 noon) -

There is no way to like this movie unless you love Vin Diesel, but no matter how much I personally love Vin Diesel as an actor, the truth, is that this movie did not pick up any comedic speed per se. This is a rentable, nothing more. I will say, however, that it gets on my nerves when all the critics discuss Diesel as a wanna-be Kindergarten cop like Arnold. Diesel is Diesel… old foggies just don’t know when to quit.

On Thursday night, Kris and I had a talk with his brother Craig. It’s a long story, but we feel that our decision to not see him for a while would be a good idea. Craig is thirty-two years old and has a lot of problems both emotionally and education-wise. I know it seems harsh, but we’ve tried to help him in the past, and he has refused it. Him refusing to let us help him only makes it harder for us, because we care too much to let him waste away. We told him to give us a call when he wants us to help him.

Everyone has given this movie rave reviews, but I just cannot say the same. The plot was weak and the jokes were unusually on the complex side for children. The only thing about this movie that makes it worth watching are the graphics and the outstanding actors who played the voices of the central park zoo animals. Do not waste your money right now to see this movie; it’s not as big a deal as everyone claims it to be. I would have to say that this flick is more of a rentable. Trust me, I love disney and pixar films, and this one bit the dust. Allison Benedikt, from the Chicago Tribune said it best: “Madagascar is wholly and detrimentally dependent on its stars”.

Tonight, the Conan O’Brien Show really wasn’t all that good. Normally, it is… but then again, it’s been a while since I’ve seen it. Does that makes any sense? I didn’t think so.

Here’s a little ditty though, I don’t know if you all have tried the new Coke Zero, but it has no sugar (calories) and it takes exactly like the traditional Coca-Cola. At first, I thought it was going to taste just like Diet Coke, but it doesn’t. If you get the chance, stop by your local corner store and pick some up. -

It’s 1:20 a.m., and I’m typing a blog entry. What in the world am I doing typing an entry at this time? Well, Kris got a little tipsy at a little get together we went to tonight. Poor dear, he totally got wasted and threw up. I just finished driving him home and took off his shoes and socks and turned on the air-conditioner so that he can sleep better.

The bottom line, is that this movie rivals Batman I and II with Michael Keaton. Of course, no one can play Batman like Michael Keaton plays Batman, but Christian Bale does a hell of a job. The story is absolutely compelling, the romance is minor, the action is jam packed, and the comedy is refreshing. As far as the villans are concerned, there are a lot of them, which makes the movie even better. There is a surprise in the movie that I didn’t expect, which was nice for a change, but I don’t want to spoil the movie for you. This movie needs to be seen as soon as possible for your entertaining pleasure. Do not (I repeat) do not wait for this to come out in the dollar movies or on DVD. Don’t forget to take your kids too. This is a movie that kids from 5+ can watch, no problem. PG-13 was a horrible rating for this movie. It should have almost been just a PG. There is a lot of violence, but hardly any gore whatsoever.

This past week, Shaq and I have been going to the Gomez’s house every morning and staying there until around 4 p.m. We’ve had a really good time being over there, since normally, we would just be home without air-conditioning trying to find something to do. I’ve been getting to know each family member little by little as the days have gone by this week, and they are some awesome people with amazing personalities. They have three adorable little dogs, and soon, I’ll be posting some pictures of those cute little devils.
This past Monday I lifted weights with Melle, but it made me so sore, that I couldn’t lift again until today. I squated for the first time since 1996! I had such a blast!! In other news, I had the most tripped out dream the other day. I dreamed that I woke up in the morning because my mom had come in unannounced, and then as I stood up to look outside through my bedroom window, I saw aliens slaughtering people in my yard (yeah, it was like that). And what was my mother doing? Ha! She was folding towels! I looked at her and said, “Mom, we’re going to die, aren’t we?” She said, “Well, I didn’t.” And I replied, “That’s because you know how to fight”. That’s when I woke up from my dream. Maybe I’m a little psyched about seeing War of the Worlds, who knows. I can tell you one thing though, and that’s that it wasn’t a nightmare, in fact, I repeatedly went back to sleep to see if I could continue the story.
