I got mentioned on Webcreme and I didn’t even know it! So, that makes one for screenspire and another for Webcreme. And to think, I’m just an amateur. Not bad, eh? Thanks for the email Luna!

View all three parts of George Clooney’s Diary with his father journalist Nick Clooney.
The Sudanese Government, using Arab “Janjaweed” militias, its air force, and organized starvation, is systematically killing the black Sudanese of Darfur.
And what’s the basic scoop? The Arabs don’t want black people in Sudan, so they are killing them off. It’s a modern day holocaust.
Three easy online steps for social activism:1. Tell President Bush that the people of Darfur need protection now.
2. Email all of your friends who you know care and want to make a difference in the world.
3. Protest!
4. Make a banner and dispay it on your lawn that says “Save Dafur” along with the website http://www.savedafur.com (I’ll be doing that this Sunday)
5. Contact your local representative by visiting their websites, and email them that you mean businesss when you say that you want our government to take action and stop the genocide of these innocent people.
6. BLOG ABOUT IT!!! I mean it, I better see some of my fellow readers blogging about this, because it is really horrible what is happening over there in Sudan.
On Friday, my local (Houston) Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, along with four other representatives, protested the genocide in Dafur and ended up getting arrested for it.

One of my past times is browsing WordPress themes at various locations online, but another is social activism. You wouldn’t believe how much you can do to make a difference right at home. As you sit there online, you have multiple opportunities every day to help people. You can affect policies in your city, town, state, nation, or even in another country.
One of the easiest ways to make a difference is to regularly visit websites that follow policies that you are for or against. These sites provide ways for you to email your local representatives about a particular issue. More importantly though, is that if you don’t have the time to read four or more hours a day of the news, all you have to do is go to a political website that promotes ACTION versus RHETORIC. One of my favorite websites is MoveOn.org. They do an excellent job of keeping tabs on the latest legislation in Congress that would negatively affect the rights of every American. There are more websites out there that do the same thing, and generally, if you pick one website for at least three of your most passionate causes, you will be doing your part to show our representatives what YOU want.
Are there any sites you would recommend? I would love to know what political activist sites you visit, regardless if they are conservative or liberal. Don’t be afraid

Balian of Ibelin travels to Jerusalem during the crusades of the 12th century, and there he finds himself as the defender of the city and its people.
Review
This was an excellent movie. Finally, Orlando Bloom plays a leading role and not a supporting one. He definately showed how macho he can be. As far as the plot of the movie, it is top notch. As far as the accurate depiction of history, well, I think that once again, it was “Westernized” and not viewed enough from the perspective of Muslims.Directed by

Dealing with a world gone cold
Everything developed on the value of gold
Saying prepare for war
Damn need a drink at the bar
Dropping bombs like we were playing golf
FOUR!!
Just got a hole in one
Blew up another country
People gone missing
Bush tell me who you dissing
The whole damn U.S.
Must have p.m.s.
Cuz we still have a son of a Bush
The white house becoming the red house
Shattered blood
Like the rain
Begins to flood
Oh the Pain
The agony and the horror
How beings have to beg and borrow
With all the disdain
Saying it for her
Or him the sorrow
Is this the end
Hell and Heaven will bend
The powers of those that be
The world’s end they will see

The three ladies above are examples of people who are active in their community and want women’s equal rights. These are my volunteers at the Women’s Resource Center where I work. Aren’t they awesome?
Okay, enough about me bragging about my volunteers. Let’s have a quick feminism history lesson. I don’t know if many of you all know this or not, but this country was very close to passing a piece of legislation called the “Equal Rights Ammendment” in 1982, and here is what it would have guaranteed The Equal Rights Ammendment website:
Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
Seems pretty simple enough, right? Well, that’s not what these states think. Of course, you might be wondering why on earth we would need an Equal Rights Amendment to begin with? Well, you’re not going to believe this, but this piece of legislation, with only these three simple sections in the amendment has been reintroduced into congress every year since 1923! Even now, as you read this blog entry, the legislation is being scrutinized and lulled over.
Wikipedia has an excellent section on it. Tell me, what do you think about this legislation? On one hand, men and women would be guaranteed equal rights under the law. On the other hand, “opponents of the ERA argue that its passage would have far-reaching implications, obliterating traditional distinctions between the sexes”. The main reason why three states in the U.S. have not ratified this legislation, is probably due to the elimination of these traditional distinctions.
I know that men and women are not “equal” in the biological sense, but when it comes to “equal rights”, that is something entirely different. Both men and women deserve equal rights under the law. The traditional gender roles are good for some, but not good for others. It is culturally insensitive to expect every family and/or individual to adhere to traditional gender roles if they do not choose that way of life. I do not believe that traditional gender roles are inherently bad, but that it should be a choice and not subjected upon people in this country.

Jigsaw locks a few unlucky people in a booby trapped shelter and they must find a way out before they inhale too much of a lethal nerve gas and die. But they must watch out, for the traps Jigsaw has set in the shelter lead to death also.

Excellent flick. It had Kris and I guessing the plot every minute. There wasn’t a moment when Kris and I knew what was going to happen. It’s nice to watch a movie, and you have no idea exactly what the ending is going to be.Directed by
