Last year, I bought Medal of Honor European Assault for myself for Christmas. I played the game all throughout December, but I never finished it. Then the summer came around, and Kris pawned our PSP and PS2s (we had a pair of each) instead of going on EBAY and selling them like I told him to. We needed the money to pay for Shaq’s education.
Since around early January of 2006, I have not played a single video game. Yesterday, even though we are broke as hell, Kris said “Babe, you should go and get yourself European Assault”. I was like “Kris, do you know how broke we are? Even $20 is stretching it!” and he said “Babe, you haven’t played in a year. You work hard, and you deserve something nice”. I agreed ((tee-hee)). So not only did I get a new car, but I got a video game.
Oh, and what I am forgetting to add into the equation here is that Kris bought me a silver colored PS2 for Christmas ((even though it’s not Christmas yet)). Normally, when my grandmother was alive, we would open presents on the 24th. Now though, things are different, and we all just go and a family and buy gifts for one another around the 23rd, and then we go to church on the 24th at night and early in the morning on the 25th. Mom has not gone to church in a while, especially since grandma and grandpa died two years ago. She says that it makes her cry every time she sees the altar. You see, my grandfather designed the altar when our church was renovated several years ago. I can understand why it makes her sad, and I never insist she go to church.
Now how did I end up getting involved with sadness all of the sudden? Ah yes, because it’s a fact of life. Okay, let’s see . . . what else is on my plate. Oh yes! Yesterday (Saturday) I got a letter in the mail about what my first field practice assignment will be. Next semester I will be working 16 hours at the Texas Dept. of Family & Protective Services. That’s right people — CPS.
I tried avoiding this type of assignment like the plague, but I suppose it will make me more well rounded. Plus, after three semesters here at the College of Social Work, I have come to respect my classmates who are CPS workers.
This week, I work on Tuesday and Wednesday and then I’m officially off for the holidays until Janurary 16. Kris works all week this week, with the exception of Friday. On Friday, we will be off to see my friend up in Kansas City, MO. from Dec. 15 – 22.
